Vintage Books held an illustration competition to celebrate the release of Haruki Murakami’s novel, Killing Commendatore. My shortlisted entry reflects the themes and moods I feel when I read my favourite Murakami novel, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle  – juxtaposition, playfulness and bold directions. Oh, and cats.
