Anne Barnetson is an illustrator specialising in portraiture, still-life painting and comics with an interest in cover design and lettering. Anne is a court sketch artist drawing from life when notable Western Australian cases make the news. She works primarily in traditional media such as watercolour and oil paints as well as Procreate. Her practise examines storytelling in sequential art, reportage and the lifelong learning process of drawing.
Clients include Hachette Publishing and Wakefield Press, Ten Network, The Piddington Society, The Lifted Brow, RTR FM‘s annual In The Pines event with Non-Drowsy Design, and West Australian Newspapers Ltd.
Her work has been featured in the finalist category of the 2006 Moran Portrait Prize, the Royal Agricultural Hall of Fame and regularly on news networks.
The collected comic strips Customer Service Wolf were published in 2019 by Affirm Press. The book is out of print, but the comics are available as an archived webcomic.
Recent projects include book covers for young adult titles The Monster of Her Age and Libby Lawrence is Good At Pretending. Anne is currently working on a graphic memoir.
